What Factors Affect the Total Cost of Window Tinting
A tint quote is built from a short list of choices, and once you know them you can compare shops on the same terms.

Ask three shops what it costs to tint a car and you will get three different answers. None of them have to be wrong, because the question is missing half its details. The price is built from a short list of choices. Once you know what they are, a quote stops being a mystery and you can compare shops on the same terms.
Which windows are getting film
Coverage is the biggest lever. Two fronts is a small job. A full vehicle, meaning the sides and rear, is a bigger one. The windshield is its own decision, and so is a strip across the top of it. DDM Services prices each of these separately, which makes it easy to see where the money goes: two fronts, full vehicle sides and rear, windshield, and sunstrip each carry their own number.
Carbon or ceramic film
Carbon tint gives a deep, non-fading finish with solid heat and glare reduction. Ceramic tint uses nano-ceramic technology aimed at higher heat rejection and clarity, and it does not interfere with phone, GPS or radio signals. Ceramic costs more. Deciding if the difference is worth it comes down to how much time the car spends parked in the sun, how much the heat bothers you, and what your budget allows.
The published numbers at DDM
These are the starting prices on our window tint page, using Union film:
- 2 fronts: carbon from $125, ceramic from $175.
- Full vehicle (sides and rear): carbon from $275, ceramic from $375.
- Windshield: ceramic only, $325 on its own or $225 when it is done with another package.
- Sunstrip: from $75.
Read the word from as meaning exactly that. These are starting figures, and the vehicle in front of us shapes the final number the same way it would at most shops. A compact sedan with plain side glass and a big truck with a sliding rear window are not the same afternoon of work, and a fair quote reflects that.
Vehicle size, glass shape and old film
More glass means more film and more time, so a large SUV or crew-cab truck can cost more to do than a coupe. Shape matters as much as size. A steeply curved rear window, a hatch with a lot of small panes, or a sliding rear truck window all take more skill to fit cleanly. DDM cuts patterns by computer, so nothing is cut on your glass, but the install still has to follow every curve.
If the car already has old tint that is bubbled, turning purple or peeling, that film usually has to come off before new film goes on, and removal is real labor. Tell DDM about old film when you call so the quote reflects the actual job instead of a surprise at pickup. Glass condition counts too. Heavy contamination on the inside of a window or a damaged rear defroster grid changes how a job goes.
What a very low quote can leave out
Tint is cheap to apply badly and expensive to redo, and a bad job often costs more than the good one would have, because the film has to be stripped and the glass cleaned all over again. A low number that skips careful cleaning is how dust, hair and bubbles end up under the film. Our process has three steps: cleaning and prep, application, then curing and a quality check. Each one takes time, and that time is part of what you are paying for. If a quote looks far below everyone else's, ask what the shop is skipping.
Legal limits are part of the job too. Florida sets limits on tint by window and vehicle type, and we go through them with you before any film is cut, so you leave with a car that is comfortable and legal.
How to get a quote you can trust
- Tell the shop the year, make and model, and which windows you want done.
- Say whether any old film is on the car.
- Name the film type you are after, carbon or ceramic, or ask for both prices side by side so you can see what the step up costs.
- Ask if the windshield and sunstrip are included or separate.
- Ask what happens during curing and what the shop wants you to avoid afterward.
