Stop the spread

Rock chip repair in Winter Springs

Chips on the hood, bumper and mirrors sealed before they spread or rust.

Chapter 01

A chip is an open door in the paint

A stone thrown up on the highway does not just leave a mark. It breaks through the paint, and sometimes all the way to bare metal. The damage looks tiny, but the finish around it is now open to the air.

From there the clock runs. Moisture gets in at the edge, corrosion starts underneath, and the chip creeps outward. Central Florida's heat and humidity do not slow that down. What you notice first is a dot on the hood. What you find later is rust spreading under paint that still looks fine.

Clean it, fill it, seal it

At DDM Services we deal with each chip individually. It is cleaned out so loose paint and debris are gone, then filled to seal the exposed area and bring the surface back level. The aim is to stop the spread and take the chip out of sight as far as it can be taken.

We will be straight about the result: repair is built to reduce a chip a lot, not to promise the spot disappears. It is quoted per vehicle, because a Winter Springs commuter with a handful of chips on the bumper is a different job from a hood peppered all over.

Chapter 03

Repair what is there, film what is coming

Repairing chips fixes today's damage. It does nothing about tomorrow's, and the leading edges of a car keep taking stones. Wax and sealants will not stop an impact either.

Paint protection film will. Our STEK PPF front packages cover the bumper, and larger ones add the hood, mirrors and fenders, so new stones hit film instead of paint. Many owners repair the chips they have, then film the front end so the repair is the last one. Call (407) 337-5292 and we will look at the car.

Same chip, two timelines

Fix it now, or pay for it later.

Nothing about a chip gets better by waiting. Here is what each path looks like.

Now

Repaired this week

  • Exposed metal gets sealed before moisture reaches it.
  • The chip is cleaned out and filled, so it stays the size it is today.
  • The spot blends in and is far harder to see, though it may not vanish completely.
  • Most repairs are a short visit, depending on how many chips and how large.

Later

Left for next year

  • Water and humidity find the bare metal and start corrosion under the edges of the paint.
  • The chip grows outward, and rust can spread beneath paint that still looks fine.
  • A small repair turns into a panel repair, and a panel repair costs far more.
  • More chips land on the same front end while you wait.

Film on the hood and bumper is how you stop the next chip from happening.

Straight answers

Rock chip repair questions.

How long does rock chip repair take?

Most repairs fit into a short visit. The exact time depends on how big the chips are and how many there are, and we keep the pace steady enough to get a clean result.

Can repairing a chip stop rust?

Yes. Filling a chip seals the exposed metal, which keeps moisture out and stops corrosion from creeping under the paint around it.

Will the repair still be visible?

It is built to cut the visibility down a lot and to stop further damage. The spot may not disappear entirely, but it blends in and it protects the paint from getting worse.
